Recursos compartidos y DNS

Hace tiempo leí que con Windows 2000 Server se podían crear carpetas
compartidas y asignarles un nombre basado en DNS (en lugar de en el nombre
del equipo). De esa forma el nombre del recurso no cambiaba aunque fuese
necesario mover la carpeta a otro servidor.

Recuerdo que lo probé, no conseguí hacerlo funcionar y me olvidé del tema.
El caso es que ahora me vendría maravillosamente y no recuerdo ni cómo se
llamaba la técnica. ¿Me podéis dar alguna pista? Sólo espero no haberlo
soñado :)
