Microsoft replaces people with machines

It thinks they are better at testing

THE MIGHTY VOLE has cut more than 62 software testing jobs from one of
its Windows groups and replaced the people with machines.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the jobs will go from the
Windows Core Operating System Division, which was only created in late
2003. Its job was to be a centralised engineering group working at the
center of versions of the operating system for computer servers and
desktops.

It is the second wave of job cuts at the Vole Hill recently. In
September more than 93 testers in the Windows Server division were
given their marching orders, with Microsoft giving the same reasons.

Those given their marching orders have the option to remain on the
payroll, with benefits, for six weeks while they search for new jobs
in the company. Employees who don't take new jobs at Microsoft will be
eligible for severance packages.
