I am using BroadGun pdfMachine software to convert files to pdf files, which
basically involves sending the print job to the printer BroadGun pdfMachine.

In my Excel workbook, one Subroutine opens MS WORD to print certain
information with Mail Merge.
If I already have the MS WORD application opened and then try to print the
information using the Excel's Sub (which opens WORD) to the pdfMachine
printer, it works fine but I get the message:

This file is in use by another application or user (C:\Documents and
Settings\.\Normal.dot)

When I click the OK button (the only option) on the message box, I am taken
to the Save dialog box. When I click on Save, I get the message:

This file is read only (C:\Documents and Settings\.\Normal.dot)

I have to then Cancel out and then close the WORD application opened by the
Excel Sub to get back to normal.

The MS WORD which was opened before the print job was sent to pdfmachine
thru Excel Sub, remains open & unaffected.

Is there a way around this?

You posted to the Spanish Word newsgroup. You'd get better responses if you
post on the English Word newsgroup.
I'm not familiar with BroadGun pdfMachine, but looks to me that the way it
works is that a file (output file) is being locked by the application (Word)
and therefore if you attempt to open another instance of the application
(Word) it finds the output file locked.
Have you tried to print to another printer (beside the pdf virtual printer)?
