No entiendo eso que dices de tarjetas de 16 bits o de 32 bits. Una tarjeta PCMCIA, es una tarjeta PCMCIA.

La portatil DELL latitude pentium 2 es algo vieja, en las
especificaciones dice compatible con PCMCIA 16bits, ahora

Puede que se refiera a que tiene una tarjeta PCMCIA typeI o typeII.
Ahora vienen con slot typeIII (cardbus). Estas últimas son de 32 bits.

Una tarjeta de 16 bits tiene un límite teórico de transferencia de 20
Mbytes por segundo entre la tarjeta y el ordenador, mientras que la
tarjeta cardbus puede llegar a tener hasta 132 Mbytes por segundo. En
tarjetas como modems, no hay mucha diferencia ni mayor impacto si la
tarjera de 16 o 32 bits, pero en una tarjeta Fast Ethernet, si puede
llegar a importar, dado que la tarjeta, en caso de ser de 16 bits,
podría ser un cuello de botella entre la máquina y la red.

No. El límite es físico. Si tu portátil tiene slot tipoI o tipoII solo
admitirá tarjetas de 16 bits.

El tipoI solo admite tarjetas PCMCIA typeI
El tipoII admite PCMCIA typeI y typeII.

Todas ellas son de 16 bits.
