CODE 10

Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 2500 laptop with built in Ethernet and modem. I
attempted to set up a network between it and my desktop and couldn't do it.
Upon investigation I found both my modem and Ethernet controller to have
conflicts. They say, "This device cannot start (Code 10)" I have never done
anything physically to the hardware here and have uninstalled them and
reinstalled them, even trying updated drivers. I reformatted and
reinstalled
Win 2000 and XP Pro, hoping it was just a bug in the System. I have
installed all the updates, then no updates (I've been working on this for a
while.).
I am just out of ideas. If anyone has any ideas to share with me I'd
really appreciate it. I did order a new ethernet card (PCIMCIA), but am
just
hitting my head into the wall as to why this happened at all. The ethernet
adaptor is a 3 Com 10/100, whose drivers are included with XP.

Thank you in advance,

Garry

Hi, try updating the drivers of both Ethernet adapter and modem. Let us know
how it goes.

BTW, this is a spanish newsgroup

I am having such a tough time here, finding the right news group. I
appreciate your assistance anyway. I did download and update the drivers. I
installed SP 4 in Win 2000, thought that it might fix it...it didn't. I
guess it's just broken, huh?

Por favor, esto es un grupo en castellano.
Creo que es,cuando menos, una falta de respeto para los que no hablamos
inglés
