Cause Section

This problem occurs because a default setting for McAfee Virus Scan 8.0
Enterprise Edition prevents Microsoft Office Outlook from running items in
the C:\Windows \Temp folder.

Note In this path, C:\ is the drive where Microsoft Windows is installed,
and Windows may be the Windows folder or the Winnt folder.

The Outlook client must be able to run items in this folder.

Resolution Section

To resolve this problem, configure Virus Scan so that the Outlook client can
run items in the Temp folder. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Network Associates,
and then click Virus Scan Console.

Note You can also start McAfee Virus Scan by right-clicking the icon in the
notification area on your computer.

2. In the Virus Scan Console window, double-click Access
Protection.

3. Click File, Share, and Folder Protection.

4. Click to clear the Prevent Outlook from launching anything
from the TEMP folder check box.

On the McAfee VirusScan server, modify the rules so that they do not
republish to client computers. For information about how to do this, contact
McAfee.
