¿Microsoft, preocupado por Google?

Después de ver los servicios ofrecidos por el Oráculo de Internet
(GMail, Google Groups, Google News, Picasa, Blogger, Orkut, Google
Toolbar, Google Desktop Search, Froggle, Google SMS, etc.), uno puede
darse cuenta que la presencia en esta compañía es enorme, ya que
abarca una gran cantidad de aspectos de la Internet. Y sus adversarios
en el mundo de los negocios, como Microsoft, no han de estar muy
contentos al ver semejante expansión. Sin embargo, es muy dudoso que
semejante compañía admita encontrarse en desventaja. Pero al parecer,
de manera no oficial, es precisamente esto lo que ha ocurrido. Según
veo en esta nota, de google.dirson.com, uno de los programadores de la
empresa de Redmond "se pasó de la lengua" en su weblog y esto fue
descubierto por Alvaro Ibáñez, de Microsiervos. El texto completo, en

So now I have GMail, the Google Toolbar, the Google Deskbar, and the
Google Desktop. To search MSDN help, I use google. At home, all my
computers use Google as their home page. When I want to browse the web
on my phone, I use Google Number Search.

I work for Microsoft. I own plenty of Microsoft stock. I want
Microsoft to succeed. But right now Google is kicking our butt. We're
so far behind everyone else on these things, and Google is so far
ahead of everyone else.

Both Cyrus and Mini-Microsoft have noticed.

I say "right now" because I think it'll change. Microsoft is working
hard to change the picture. I think we can do it. Watch Microsoft pull
all the peices together & produce a highly-integrated,
high-performance, high-value story that is 10x better than Google.

It should be exciting.

Como es lógico, puede verse que al final esta persona sostiene que el
Gigante del Software no va a quedarse de brazos cruzados, viendo como
Google ocupa poco a poco cada uno de los rincones de la Internet. Sin
embargo, la frase "now Google is kicking our butt" (ahora Google esta
pateando nuestro trasero), muestra cierto grado de desesperación.

El Oráculo es una compañía bastante innovadora, que sabe jugar muy
bien sus cartas: y desarrolla sus innovaciones a un ritmo veloz. De
hecho, yo nunca había visto semejante velocidad, bastante parecida a
algunos proyectos del software libre. Si las cosas continuán de esta
manera, tal vez algún día decir Google sea semejante a decir
"Internet" (algunas personas actualmente no notan la diferencia).

Es que señor mio, MSN es una basura infumable. Su buscador no vale
una mierda y encima es de pago (para insertar un link debes pagar),
aunque luego con su MSNbot si tu página es interesante acaban sacándola
porque les conviene. Pues que borren la mia, que yo no les he pedido
que la metan y están haciendo dinero a mi costa.

Hombre, es normal. Yo a mi hermano (que no tiene mucha idea de
informática) le digo: vete al buscador. E inmediatamente se va al
google. Para él no existe otro, y así para la inmensa mayoría de
usuarios.
