64-bit Windows wide open to viruses

Users of the latest 64-bit version of Microsoft's Windows XP
Professional x64 Edition operating system will not have the option to
install Norton or McAfee antivirus software, vnunet.com can reveal.
Users trying to install the Norton Internet Security 2005 security
suite for consumers on the 64-bit version of Windows see an error
message stating that the product can not be installed.

They are referred to a web page which states: "Symantec currently does
not sell any consumer products that are certified to be compatible
with 64-bit processors and operating systems."

Time to change to another antivirus vendor besides Norton or
McAfee ... which anybody in their right mind would have done long
ago, anyway.

Too bad its erroneous or old information !
McAfee Enterprise VirusScan v8.0i is for WinXP/64 or Win2003 Server/64 !

64bit Windows is NOT a consumer product it is a corp. product becuase the consumer wil not
afford it. The McAfee AV Enterprise/corp. software is completely different from their
retail software which admittedly has problems.

Actually I think it is much better that those two pieces of crap can't
install on the x64 version - avast works fine and IMHO - is a much better
product. Which makes the subject line BS.
