I am trying to partition my NTFS hard dirve running XP.
I have tried doing the computer managment route, but all
of my 120GB hd is slated as the primary partition.
All the drive is made into a single partition. The system
cannot adjust
that - all you could do is delete it altogether and start
over (which
you would have to do as part of a reinstall from scratch).
You need a
third party program - the classic is Partition Magic, I use
BootIT NG,
from
http://www.BootitNG.com ($35 shareware - 30 day full
functional
trial)
With that make its boot floppy, boot that, cancel Install
and it will
enter Maintenance. Click Partition work, click to
highlight your
partition in the middle pane, and click Resize
I would then make the new second partition from XO; Control
Panel -
Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk Management
and look lower
right for the graphic of the drive. R-click the
Unallocated space there
will now be, and Create Partition
