Vínculos a Excel

1. Es *altamente recomendable* instalar las actualizaciones

2. Hasta 2000 (al menos en PowerPoint) se usaban unos *centímetros* que no
eran tales y a partir de 2002 se usan unos *centímetros* más reales...

3. Yo tengo siempre desactivado Ajustar a la cuadrícula y Ajustar a la forma

4. No es *recomendable* vincular archivos creados en una versión a otra
versión... OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) funciona generalmente muy
bien... pero también podría decirse que es un poco frágil...

5. La única forma de estar seguro de que *lo que ves es lo que es* es cuando
tienes la hoja o la diapositiva al 100% con la resolución de monitor que
uses. Si trabajas al 85% o *ajustando* estás viendo sólo una *representación
de la realidad*... Al hacer F5 en PowerPoint es cuando ves como va a
quedar... Por lo tanto cuando copias de la hoja y la cierras y la guardas
debería ser al 100% y cuando *sitúas* los vínculos en PowerPoint también
deberías hacerlo al 100% (eso es incómodo con monitores pequeños... pero es
lo que hay cuando te interesa que algo quede de verdad ajustado, o que no *se
mueva*, o que aparezca en un sitio determinado...)

En la muestra que me enviaste el cuadro no re-vinculado decía que medía 7,89
x 12,56 con un tamaño original de 7,88 x 12,56 y no tenía líneas de división.

En la muestra que me enviaste el cuadro re-vinculado decía que medía 8,13 x
11,94 con un tamaño original de 8,12 x 11,93 y tenía líneas de división.

En los dos casos al hacer Edición > Vínculos el vínculo se referenciaba a
ejemplo.xls!Hoja1!F1C1:F18C6 a mí sólo se me referencia a ejemplo.xls...

Si yo guardo tu ejemplo.xls con Excel 2003 SP1 como Ejemplo2003.xls; creo
una ppt con PowerPoint 2003 SP1, la llamo Ejemplo2003.ppt... inserto dos
veces el vínculo a la Ejemplo2003.xls... Guardo... Vuelvo a abrir
PowerPoint... Actualizo sólo uno de los dos vínculos... Son exactamente
iguales... A cualquier resolución... Es más, ni siquiera he desactivado
ajustar a la cuadrícula o a la forma, ni lo he hecho al 100%...

Para ser justos... La xls la había guardado al 100%...

Enric,
These two images are not identical. Hence the difference. They are
linked to the same location (range) but check the image size since
both are formatted to 100% height and width connected to original
size. But the sizes in height and width are different as reported by
PPT which is only minor but would explain the silly slight
reformatting of the fonts.

Resize the files to exactly the same size and they get a whole lot
closer. Now, the last thing is that one of the images has grid lines
viewable and the other does not. Gridlines would steal some font
spacing which also contributes to the problem.

If you'd like to, send me the original file and the Excel file it was
linked to. I'd be happy to test further but this explains a lot to me.

Enric,
There seem to be two things going on here. Let me try and explain from
an Excel point of view which is very different from a PPT Point of
view sometimes:

1. First the files are linked and then they are resized somehow to
something other than the way they came in. Possibly the user could
have resized the columns or rows between versions. PPT (OLE) is only
going to try and repaint the image based on the current image in the
OLE Server (XL). If they came in at two different points in time, they
would repaint at two different sets of size parameters, I should think
(Uber John can confirm/refute that statement).

2. Second, and this is extremely important, but probably not entirely
accurate. PowerPoint treats font sizes like one would expect. Excel
does not. If I recall correctly, Excel treats font sizes correctly
horizontally, (left to right) but does not work in font sizes
vertically (row height). Or I have it backwards.
But that said without comparing the two files for row height and
widths, I would expect that this is what is causing the problem.

I'm not at all surprised by this difference. I don't get it in my
files since I behave (mostly (g)). But without understanding the
implications of minor changes in OLE linked files one can get burned
like this. It's one reason I mostly gave up OLE linking a few years
ago and rely on VBA to rebuild the images when I want to update. I'm
doing a project right now that wants to update data every month on
hundreds of charts and I'm rebuilding the data everytime (Access to
Excel) and reassembling the PPT file every time from the updated data.
Not an OLE link in sight.

un círculo (creados pulsando el SHIFT para que salieran exactos)

Lo que he podido comprobar es que si se usa la configuración 1024x768 y un
Excel creado en versión XP ocurre lo siguiente:
Al pegar con vínculos, se pega como una imagen algo más ancha
Al actualizar el vínculo, la imagen se estrecha mostrando la proporción
adecuada

Donde peor funciona el pegado de vínculos respecto a otras versiones es con
respecto al formato de letras, trabajando en una resolución más baja.

Y el peor caso sucede al actualizar vínculos de archivos Excel creados en
versión 97 o 2000, donde al estrechar la imagen queda deformada respecto al
original.

Bueno de nuevo te agradezco tu ayuda y paciencia, me quedo a la espera de un
Service Pack 2.
