xp logoff problem

I am facing a very peculiar problem with
my windows xp laptop.

My compaq laptop is loaded with xp home edition
and as soon as i log into it it logs me out.

Its not connected to a LAN etc and I use it as
standalone computer.

Any clues what may be causing this?

If you have not activated windows , you will be reminded each time you log in and at common intervals until the end of the activation grace period of 30/60 days. If you have not activated Windows XP within this timeframe, you will need to do so to continue using it. timebomb,
